On Planet Mall, music no longer means freedom or inspiration. Computers make tunes. Kids download them. Boy bands, girl bands, bands that could be boys or girls – you can’t really tell. Everything is planned, hits are scheduled years in advance. But underneath the shiny, homogenized cities, in the lower depths of the earth, live the Bohemians, rebelling against the mass culture, resisting the onslaught of company control. These musical guerillas believe that once, long ago, there was a time when kids formed their own bands, wrote their own songs, did things the way they chose. This time was called The Rhapsody. Legend has it that somewhere on Planet Mall, instruments are hidden. Somewhere, deep under rock, buried in time, there lies the axe of a guitar god. Could it be that the one who calls himself Galileo is that man? But the Ga Ga Cops are searching for Galileo, and if they find him first they will surely consign him to the mundane.
So where – and who – is Galileo? Where is the lost axe? Where is the place of rock?
