Camden Town Market

When visiting London it is probably inevitable that some shopping will be on the agenda.

Instead of hitting the usual high street haunts, exploring some of the city’s markets and secretive side streets could prove to be a far more interesting retail experience for tourists.

One of the most famous markets in London is Camden Town. Easily accessible by either bus or tube, there are five indoor and outdoor markets, each with a different feel to it.

Open seven days a week, everything from traditional and contemporary jewellery to clothes and gifts are on sale, along with food and home furnishings such as mirrors, paintings and prints.

All this is available amid a vibrant and cultural atmosphere teaming with people, as Camden Lock market, which was established in 1975, draws crowds of more than 150,000 a week.

Camden is also home to the Roundhouse and the Electric Ballroom, two popular music venues.
