Review: Oxford Street

Don’t miss it: Oxford Street & Regent Street shopping

Review by Amanda

Oxford Street is a hub of activity, featuring over 300 stores. No doubt one of the worlds best shopping destinations from famous department stores and international labels, to local designer boutiques and High Street chain stores. Shopping in London’s Oxford Street & Regent Street is one pleasure you should not miss, even window-shopping is a feast for the eyes.

Whereas Regent Street offers well-priced High Street stores they do include a shopping institution Liberty and the largest toyshop in the world, Hamleys. Visit the many roads leading off Regent Street where you will discover endless restaurants, bars and a selection of trendy boutiques.

My Experience

I was looking forward to going in the West End shopping, I had a few things in mind that I was looking to buy, when you have nearly every shop possibly in a small area its so difficult to choose where you want to go. I was going with a few friends too.

With Oxford Street as there are so many shops you can defiantly say you will find what you are looking for at reasonable prices, whereas Regent Street seems to have more boutiques and more expensive stores, don’t forget Hamleys it fantastic in there! Either plan what you want and know where they are or just walk up and down the streets and pop in where you want. The overall experience was overwhelming and so much fun when there are a few of you, I was very surprised that it wasn’t so hectic, I must have just watched too much about the west End shopping in the sales on TV – that’s when it is complete chaos.

I believe bank holidays can be quite hectic, whether you have pennies or pounds you will find something to take home,

Directions

Any one of these Underground stations will lead you there: Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, and Regent Street

Hot Tip

We chose a Tuesday early morning 11am, so we missed the workers rush hour (9am-10am) and by midday most people are going for lunch so it leaves the street less busy.
