Review: Lush

Buy ethically produced cosmetics from Lush

Review by Eszter

Lush is a cosmetics company and shop chain specialising in ethical products and trade. Although Lush stores and cosmetics are available worldwide nowadays, with several shops in several different countries, it was born in the UK and is a very British shop. The first ever Lush and the original factory were both founded in Poole in Dorset, on the south coast of Britain.

My experience

One of my favourite things about Lush is that it makes a point of being fair traded and ethically produced – in fact, they have just been approved and recognised by the Fairtrade organisation. They also make only vegetarian or vegan products, and all of them are made from fresh organic fruit and vegetables, so you get that genuinely fruity smell instead of the chemically produced one in most soaps! They don’t test on animals either.

Lush recently appeared on the hugely popular BBC TV show The Apprentice – one of the tasks involved thinking up a new product to sell. The cameras filmed them in the Lush workshops, so we had a sneak peek of how they actually make things! And you never know – you could pick up a slice of British TV while you’re browsing!

Even though there are other Lush stores in other countries, the UK still has the most shops and the biggest selection of products – even if you have a Lush in your own country, you might find something here that you have never seen before!

Directions.

There are many Lush stores in the UK, our local one is Covent Garden.

Hot tip

My favourite Lush shop is in Covent Garden – I can go shopping, then sit down with a coffee and a slice of cake in one of Covent Garden’s beautiful cafes!
