Review: London Eye

See London from the world’s highest observation wheel

Review by Amanda

The London Eye (also known as the Millennium Wheel), at a height of 135 metres (443 ft), is the biggest Ferris wheel in Europe, and has become the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom, visited by over three million people in one year. Take your amazing panoramic flight on the world’s highest observation wheel.

My experience

The London Eye was defiantly an attraction that I was interested on visiting. When arriving at the Eye the queues looked very long , but in fact they allow approx 15 people per pod so you only wait around 10mins in the queue, which was very good being the half term holidays. The weather brighten up and we were very excited. I was truly amazed at the sights seen from such height, my boy was fascinated and we had a superb time, you see absolutely everything, the fact is they say you can see up to 25 miles from the top on a clear day so make sure you choose a clear dry day, it was unbelievable, such an amazing experience and defiantly one not to be missed.

The Flight around takes around 25 – 30 mins, I would say that’s just about right, then a quick look in the gift shop for a small souvenir.

They allow wheelchairs and buggies on the London Eye as the pods are HUGE!

Directions

The London Eye is situated on the South Bank of the river Thames, opposite the Houses of Parliament. We took the tube into Westminister( 5min walk ) , but by looking on the map there are a few stations you can go to – Waterloo, Embankment or Charing Cross.

Hot tip

Ensure you check the weather forecast before purchasing your tickets, you will have some amazing views if it is a clear dry day.

You have a entire pod photo on the way down ( you will be advised) , ensure you all stand together and smile at the photo point , a absolutely fabulous photo. Shame i was sitting down, but a good one of the children.( £10.00 per photo or 2 for £12.00 great deal)

If taking Children make sure you brush up on sites that can be seen because they will ask you everything.( Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge , St Paul’s Catherdral , Houses of Parliament) – Have Fun!

Dont forget your camera!
