Review: Club 333

Dance the night away in raw, down-to-earth Club 333

Review by Vincent Alblas

333 is situated in one of the most popular party areas of London: Old Street. The club is just a five minute walk away from tube station Old Street on the Northern line. That’s a good thing, because you definitely need to save your feet for all the dancing and jumping that awaits you at the 333.

My experience

Life isn’t all about working and earning money, life is about drinking and partying, so said my grandma right before she died. That night I promised her to do anything I could to spread her words around the globe, even if that means getting a job at Generator Hostels and writing cheesy reviews for their website. So let’s start my New Digital Bible of Partying with a club called 333 (apparently they’re half evil; I hope this won’t bring any devils and demons into my Holy Book of Dancing the Night Away).

Okay, I have to admit, 333 isn’t a big club (sometimes the crowd’s kind of packed together like chickens in a battery cage), but the atmosphere and the music – an eclectic mix of (pop)rock, dance, hip hop, electro, and drum and bass (depending on the night you visit and on which of the two dance floors you’re dancing) – are to my taste, though I have to admit that all the gangster hip hop stuff isn’t really my thing, so most of the time I just stay on the dance floor on which they play something else than that.

As I mentioned before, 333 is situated in an area full of clubs and bars. So if you’re at the 333 and get bored after a while, you can just go somewhere else. Or if you come rolling out of the club at the end of the night (completely wasted probably) you can – as I always do – go to a food-poisoning-guaranteed-food-stand and eat a falafel or whatever fast-food you prefer at 4 o’clock in the morning.

You know, maybe 333 isn’t that special at all, and maybe drinks are relatively expensive (although still cheap compared to Central London’s prices), but fact is that it was the first club I ever visited in London and I had some memorable encounters with charming long legged creatures of the other sex right away, so if you like it or not, I still enjoy going there. And if you decide to pay the club a visit and you don’t like it, just go to one of the neighboring clubs and practice the new religion, as described in my yet to be written Holy Digital Dancing Bible, over there. As long as you have fun.

Directions

Walk from the hostel to King’s Cross / St Pancras tube station and take the Northern line to the Old Street station. From there it’s a 5 minute walk. Club 333 can be found at Old Street 333.

Hot tip

Get informed before going there, because at some nights you can get in for free, while at other nights you pay up to £10. Going on certain nights can definitely save you money.

More info

Entrance fees vary. Sometimes you get in for free; other days you pay up to £10. Drinks: relatively expensive for the area, but still cheaper than in Central London’s clubs.
