London is a city steeped in history and anyone wishing to discover more about how it came to exist as it does today may want to take a look inside the Museum of London.
Seven galleries are open to visitors which host temporary exhibitions charting the city’s development through the ages.
The journey begins with London Before London which covers the prehistoric and Neolithic periods. Featured is the River Wall which displays 300 ancient objects salvaged from the depth of the Thames, and a reconstruction of the oldest Londoner ever found, a skeleton dating back over 5,000 years.
Other galleries document Roman London along with the 1,000 years covered by the Dark Ages, Saxon and medieval eras.

The beginning of the capital’s development and expansion into the world-class city it is now is then observed in the Tudor and early Stuart section of the museum.
A £20 million refurbishment of the museum of London is currently taking place and it will be fully re-opened in 2010.
