Nightclub dancer and wannabe celebrity Roxie Hart kills her lying lover and lands in Cook County Jail, where she meets the notorious Velma Kelly, who fast becomes her cell block rival as the two vie, with the help of slick lawyer Billy Flynn, not only for the headlines but also for their lives.
