Visitors to London looking to sample the culinary treats the capital has to offer may wish to visit Borough Market, home to a wide variety of specialist foods.
According to its official website, the market, which is located on the south bank of the Thames, has occupied its current site for 250 years and sells a range of goods, with meat, fish, vegetables, fruit and much else besides available to purchase.
Open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to both trade and retail customers, the market is seen as one of the country’s most important and is run by a board of trustees, all of whom live nearby.
Split into four areas, shoppers are advised to get there early and bring a strong bag to carry their purchases.
Having a good look around before buying is also encouraged, as a number of good value cuts of meat and vegetables are to be found amid the higher-priced delicacies.
Also on offer in London is Portobello Market, which takes place throughout the week and has a wide variety of goods on offer.
