‘Be entertained’ while shopping in Covent Garden

Covent Garden in the heart of London is not only famous for its shops, but for the many street performers who are out and about to entertain visitors.

It is the only area of London which is licensed for street entertainment, meaning that tourists to the city are likely to enjoy a unique shopping experience.

Writing for Covent Garden Life, Andy Wood, a street performer in Covent Garden, said that whatever the weather, “performances go on 364 days a year (it’s rare to see a show on Christmas Day) a record which makes Covent Garden one of London’s most popular tourist destinations”.

Of course, the shopping cannot be ignored and at the heart of the Covent Garden piazza is the market place which was designed in 1632 by Inigo Jones.

It boasts an array of bars, cafes and restaurants as well as a good selection of both high street and quirky, one-off stores for visitors to enjoy.

Covent Garden is just a short tube ride away from Oxford Street, another popular shopping destination in London.
