London Hostel wins The Best UK Hostel 2009
~The Oldie Travel Magazine Award 2009~
Generator Hostel London named Best Hostel of the year at the award ceremony held at the East India Club in Mayfair yesterday evening.
The Oldie travel awards, which seek to award the best in the industry, as well as exposing the worst, are now in their third year. Generator Hostels was nominated by the travel editor of Oldie magazine after she stayed at the Russell Square property and was impressed by the service and facilities offered.
Since the Generator opened in London over 14 years ago, it has grown to become the largest hostel in the capital and hosts over 280,000 travellers every year. Visitors enjoy an all-you-can-eat breakfast, benefit from free bed linen and daily walking tours.
“This award proves that hostels are not just for backpackers and students, but also provide a great alternative for those on a budget,” said Erik Van Dijk, managing director at Generator Hostels. “With London’s hotels and hostels embarking on a price war, there has never been a better time to be recognised for providing quality accommodation packages without breaking the bank,” he added.
