Visit London to see Turner Prize nominees

People planning an autumn or winter trip to the capital this year may be interested to know that they could see the nominees for the annual Turner Prize for art while they are there.

The competition finalists will be on display between October 5th 2010 and January 2nd 2011 at the Tate Britain in Westminster.

Contemporary art lovers are advised there are four artists competing for the prestigious award this year – surrealist Enrico David, Roger Hiorns, Lucy Skaer and Richard Wright.

Judging this year will be Isabel Carlos, Andrew Nairne and Polly Staple, with the winner of the contest announced in December 2010..

The Turner Prize has been running since 1984 and is one of the most controversial of the art world, attracting widespread media attention and debate for its shortlist.

Open each day between 10:00 and 17:50, the Tate Britain is hosting an exhibition of work by iconic British sculptor Henry Moore until August 8th 2010, highlights of which include a group of figures carved in elm, drawings from the war and stone sculptures.
