Visitors to London who wish to get a real feel for the capital could find one event allows them to do just that.
The annual Mayor’s Thames Festival takes place on the banks of the famous river in the heart of the city.
On September 11th and 12th, the area will be transformed into the location for what Visit London describes as a “spectacular weekend”.
In 2009, more than half a million people headed to the celebration and this year the banks of the river will become home to street entertainers, market stalls, theatre and circus acts and beautiful illuminations.
One aspect of the spectacle visitors may not want to miss is the night carnival, which sees performers and musicians wearing an array of colourful costumes form a parade to bring the event to a close.
Also taking place in London at the beginning of September is A Garden Party to Make a Difference, which is an event hosted at Clarence House by the Prince’s Charities Foundation’s Start Initiative.
