Dance goes big in London
People living in or visiting London are being urged to get up off the sofa and grab their dancing shoes as part of one of the city’s festivals.
The T-Mobile Big Dance takes place from July 3rd to 11th and has been organised by a partnership between the Mayor of London and Arts Council England.
Nine days of special dance events will see shops, parks, galleries and other city venues all encouraging people to lose themselves in the music and pull some shapes.
Diversity in dance will be promoted and it is hoped that the festival will cement the UK’s position as a world-class centre for the activity.
“Everyone is invited to join in. The aim is to encourage people to get into dance, increase fitness levels and generate a legacy of dance for all,” the event’s website claims.
July 1st will see the launch of Big Dance Week at the London Palladium, where special guests will appear in a production of Hairspray’s You Can’t Stop The Beat.
