Psycho Returns
Everybody knows about the famous shower scene in classic 1960 thriller Psycho, but now fans have the chance to watch the whole thing in a special season at the British Film Institute (BFI).
Alfred Hitchcock’s seminal tale of greed and obsession set in the creepy Bates Motel, starring Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins is showing until April 15th up to three times a day.
The movie is arguably the most well-known of the director’s and has arguably influenced hundreds of later pictures. It was even remade in 1998 scene-for-scene by Gus Van Sant and this version is also showing a couple of times throughout the month at the BFI’s NFT3 theatre.
Another event to celebrate 50 years since Psycho’s release is also being staged at the BFI on April 6th and 15th. Psycho and its Influence is a seminar studying the perception of mental health and how this is explored by filmmakers.
