Biggin Hill International Air Fair

The 2010 Biggin Hill International Air Fair is being held in June this year and could provide an extra attraction for those planning to visit London over the summer.

Running on the 26th and 27th of the month in the town overlooking the capital, the show features displays by the Royal Air Force aerobatic team the Red Arrows, Typhoons, Tornados and Freefall Parachute Team The Falcons.

Air shows have been held on the same site since the 1920s and the 47th incarnation of the festival is taking place this year.

Highlights include events to mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 1940, about which prime minister Sir Winston Churchill said: “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few.”

Scenes of the battle will be replicated in the daily flying display by a Messerschmitt 109 fighter, Hurricanes and Spitfires, in addition to pyrotechnics and archive film footage.

International participants will also take place in shows during the festival, with planes hailing from New Zealand, Belgium and France and more than 100 aircraft exhibited alongside 300 stands.
