The annual Lord Mayor’s Show will be taking place on 13th November in a tradition that has taken place since 1215.
This year the Lord Mayor of the City of London will travel from Mansion House to the Royal Courts of Justice and back again as part of the Lord Mayor’s Show. In 2008, the procession attracted 450,000 people and the UK television audience numbered nearly 2 million viewers
Around 6,000 people participate in the procession which covers a distance of three miles and passes the famous St Paul’s Cathedral, where there are grandstands for spectators.
Along with more traditional aspects such as a military marching band there will be Chinese acrobats, live music and floats from community projects such as the In Toto Theatre.
The parade ends with a fireworks display at 17:00 above the River Thames. The spectacular show uses more than half a tonne of fireworks and the event’s official website advises going to the Victoria Embankment for the best view.
