When to visit London art galleries for free
A new initiative set up by the Arts Council is to let people visit London galleries for free in the evenings.
First Thursdays will see over 100 venues around the east of the city open their doors on the first Thursday of every month until 21:00 BST, including art exhibitions and tours, private views and other events.
Each month, leading names in the art world will curate their own tour of east London by bus, selecting their favourite places to see films, browse books, buy clothes and drink coffee.
Current free events which could interest visitors to the city, as well as die-hard Londoners, include the All Visual Arts show at the Tramshed, which displays the work of Paul Fryer, Alastair Mackie, Kate MccGwire and others.
Jonathon Wateridge’s Another Place, which consists of seven large oil paintings depicting scenes from a fictional film production, will be showing at the Tramshed for free until July 3rd.
