A Spectacular Event
The 2010 BBC Proms season runs this year from July 16th to September 11th in the capital.
A number of venues will stage concerts, including the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall in Chelsea and the Royal College of Music.
Proms in the Park will take place across the UK, with the London event in Hyde Park on September 11th.
The 2009, Last Night of the Proms celebrations were presented by Sir Terry Wogan and featured Katherine Jenkins, Barry Manilow, Gardar Thor Cortes, the BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC Radio 2 presenter Ken Bruce, the Counterfeit Stones and others.
Running for 115 years, the Proms aims to “present the widest possible range of music, performed to the highest standards, to large audiences”.
Manager of the Queen’s Hall in London Robert Newman staged the first concert in 1895 in order to educate the public about music and promote upcoming performers.
Those planning to attend the annual musical celebrations can purchase the BBC Proms Guide 2010 from April 23rd and ticketing booking opens on May 4th.
