Visit the home of Hitler’s air force – Luftwaffe HQ

Berlin is full of memorials and statues to remember the events which took place in Germany under the Nazi regime.

As well as these purposeful reminders, many of the buildings where government officials met to discuss their plans which helped to shape history are also still standing.

On of these is the Nazi Luftwaffe headquarters (HQ), or the home of Hitler’s air force.

During World War II, the Luftwaffe was one of the most powerful, modern and experienced air forces in the world.

Its base also has a communist history as it was occupied by the Soviet Union during the interwar period, according to Sandeman’s New Berlin Tours.

During this time it became the centre of the East German government and artwork was painted upon the wall of the building to depict the happy people who would live in that area of the city.

Another significant site tourists in Berlin may like to visit is the underground bunker where Hitler would make his plans and also ended his life.
