Whether it is to hunt down a bargain or simply enjoy a wander round the stalls, a visit to one of Berlin’s flea markets may be well worth the trip for those visiting the city.
Everything from second-hand books, clothing and records to Russian icons and authentic German lederhosen can be found at these bustling markets.
One of the most famous is found on Strasse des 17. Juni which offers more antiques and handycraft than thrifty bargains. There are also items such as pictures and furniture on sale.
Anyone who loves getting a little nostalgic should pay a visit to Flea Market Arkonaplatz for everything sixties and seventies, while the newly established Flohmarkt am Mauerpark has a local feel for tourists to enjoy.
Bargain finders need not despair if the weather turns grey when they are rummaging, as Hallentrodelmarkt Treptow is an indoor flea market located in a former bus depot near the site of the Berlin Wall.
During the festive season, Berlin plays host to over sixty Christmas markets.
