Have the most perfect night in Friedrichshain’s best party area
Review by Vincent Alblas
I know I’ve been writing about weird, alternative bars and clubs before, but I just can’t get enough of them. That’s why I’m going to tell you about the great, fantastic, this-so-awesome-that-I-want-to-bring-all-my-friends-here Simon-Dach-Strasse, which translates as Simon Dach Street. Located in my favorite area of Friedrichshain, the Simon-Dach-Strasse is the ideal place for an evening of eating, drinking and partying with all of your friends – and if you don’t have any: there is a big change you will make some during the night.
My experience
Besides all the cheap food, drinks and clubs, something I particularly like about the Simon-Dach-Strasse is that it only takes about 15 minutes to get there from the Generator Berlin. I will describe you my perfect evening and night, so get a pen and some paper, and be sure you make notes.
At around 6pm I head with my extremely eloquent and incredibly funny friends to the Simon-Dach-Strasse. Our first stop there is Kingston, where you can build your own pizza. Well, you’re not exactly allowed to stick your dirty hands into the chef’s dough, but you can compose your own pizza by ticking the boxes on the ingredient list you receive at your table.
After that we move on to Dachkammer, a bar that combines the interior of a haunted house with the coziness of your own living room. But make sure you go to the upper floor, because the ground floor looks like any other bar. Seated in the big armchairs on upper floor we have a tasty cocktail or a few beers.
All the chilling at Dachkammer is good, but we’re not old people, so we need a bar that is more alive, has bigger balls, and is rocking the roof off! So put in your earplugs and follow us to Paule’s Metal Eck, a small but very entertaining metal bar, which surprisingly enough is often being visited by people you don’t expect in a metal bar.
Getting a little drunk already? (Or are you one of those people that only drink virgin cocktails and alcohol-free beer?) Then let’s go to the absolutely amazing club Cassiopeia, which is not located in the Simon-Dach-Strasse, but in the neighboring Revaler Strasse, but I’m allowed to cheat a bit, since this is my review. I’m not even going to describe Cassiopeia. Just go there. You will love it. Just as you will with any of the other places I described.
Directions
Walk from the Generator Berlin to the S-Bahn station behind the building and take the S41. Change at Ostkreuz into any of the westbound trains and get off at the Warschauer Strasse station. When leaving this station, go to the right on the Warschauer Strasse and after a few hundred meters right again on the Revaler Strasse. The Simon-Dach-Strasse is the second street on the left.
Hot tip
The Warschauer Strasse station is very close to the East Side Gallery, a 1.3km long section of the Berlin Wall located near the centre of Berlin on Mühlenstraße.
