Reichstag – View Berlin from the glass dome of the Reichstag

The Reichstag, or German Parliament building, is one of the most impressive and striking buildings in Berlin and is surely a must-see for any travellers to the city.

Its traditional and imposing stone exterior is offset with a magnificent crystalline dome where visitors can experience both the optical illusions created by a mirrored funnel and a unique view of Berlin.
The Reichstag was built between 1884 and 1894 by Paul Wallot to represent the newly established German Reich.
It has seen many historical events including the transformation of the monarchy into the German Republic in 1918 and a fire in 1933 which the Nazis blamed on their political enemies.

Rebuilt between 1961 and 1971 by Sir Norman Forster, it saw the re-establishment of Berlin as the country’s capital city.

Since 1916 to words ‘Dem Deutschen Volke’ have been inscribed on the Reichstag, which means To the German People.

The roof terrace and dome of the Reichstag Building are closed for visitors without pre-booking.
