Volkspark Friedrichshain
Just a ten minute walk away from Generator Hostel Berlin, this giant park hosts a beer garden, open air cinema, half pipe, basket ball court and several good roads for roller blading. On top of that it is a great place for relaxing, just strolling along or sitting down on the grass on a sunny day.
Tiergarten
Tiergarten (German for Animal Garden) is the name of both a large park in the centre of Berlin and a locality within the borough of Mitte. Before German reunification, it was a part of West Berlin. Today the park is a great place for relaxing, jogging, picknicking and just strolling amongst its giant maple trees.
Mauerpark
Mauerpark is a public park in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district. The name translates to “Wall Park,” referring to its status as a former part of the Berlin Wall and death strip. Today the park is one of the most popular places for young residents of Berlin, especially Wedding and Prenzlauer Berg, and attracts basketball players, jugglers, musicians, and many other types of people. There are two stadiums next to the park, including Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Sportpark and Max Schmeling Halle, home to several of Berlin’s local sports teams. The park is located on the border between Prenzlauer Berg and Wedding and hosts one of Berlin’s best flea markets on Sundays.
