If you’re a lover of all things theatre and are planning a trip to Berlin during May, then the Theatertreffen – or theatre meeting – might be right up your street.
Taking place between May 7th and May 23rd, the event brings together ten of the “most remarkable” plays performed across Germany over the past year, the organisers say, with the decision being made by an independent jury of critics.
Of course, the majority of the work relies on German dialogue, but if you’re far from fluent in the language then fear not, because What’s on When notes that there is a lot to see that can still be understood, such as dance, performance art and physical theatre.
The news source also states that some of the work on show is often controversial, which is one of the reasons why it is seen as unique in the theatre world.
Everything takes place at the Berliner Festspiele and if you’re wanting to get tickets then check online during March, when advance booking is set to begin.
